Delivering
Precision

The Vekta Packfeeder ensures that your saw will never be waiting for timber. The ultimate automatic infeed system- speed, compact size, customisable and it completely eliminates picking errors.

Operation Principles

Long lengths sit on the top row while your shorter lengths sit on the bottom row. Each pack of timber sits on racks and new racks are loaded in at the end. The Packfeeder then scans the location of each rack as well as the rack numbers. The rack number is what is used by the saw to request timber – i.e. 90×35 6.0m timber is in rack 12 for example. When one pack is empty, the racks are manually removed by hand and a new pack is loaded in at the end.  The new pack is then pushed into position and all subsequent packs shuffle down to fill in the gap created by the old pack. When the packfeeder next scans the racks, it notes the new location of each pack to be used for picking. By having the two rows of timber, small gaps between the packs and a single loading location, the required floor space is only about 25% of what is generally required by other solutions on the market.

Features

  • The Vekta Packfeeder picks and delivers the exact timber your saw asks for – eliminating picking errors.
  • Eliminates the need for an operator on the infeed side of your saw.
  • Timber is loaded into the system from only one location, creating a huge savings in the required floor space.
  • Longer lengths of timber are stored above shorter lengths resulting in a footprint that is only about 25% of an equivalent system. Not 25% less but actually 25% OF the equivalent system!
  • The Packfeeder is capable of picking up two boards at once.
  • A gantry moves back and forth along the packs and collects the specific piece that the saw has requested.
  • A powerful vacuum picks up the board or boards and delivers it to the infeed deck. The gantry then gets the next piece requested.
  • The Packfeeder can process timber from 70mm up to 300mm wide,
  • Designed to have minimal preventative maintenance requirements
  • The length of the system can be customised to meet space and/or number of pack requirements.
  • Supports both full and partial packs. This is achieved by simply changing the racks used in the system – no need for Vekta to get involved – making it easy to change the pack configurations at any time.
  • State of the art safety system including full safety fencing around the machine, designed to meet Vekta’s high safety standards, while not getting in the way of getting the job done.
  • Gates where you need them.
